» General Information:

A yearly check-up of moles by a dermatologist is required to prevent skin cancer (some people, given their medical history or features require more frequent checkups by a dermatologist). Dermatologists examine the skin to be able to detect early signs of benign, premalignant (actinic keratosis) and malignant (malignant melanoma, among others) skin lesions. With skin cancer, which can be fatal, early diagnosis and treatment improve the outlook enormously.
